Just returned from a week at Parga beach resort. The hotel is set in well maintained grounds with an array of different plants and shrubs lining all the walkways and paths. The accommodation is spread out and consists or 2/3 storey rooms with balcony or terrace. Our room was 343 which is the topmost of 3 rooms although as they are built on a slope you only climb one flight of stairs. It was towards the back of the hotel grounds and was a 5/6 minute walk to the beach. The room overlooked the Rho pool which is possibly the quietest of the pools. There wasn’t an abundance of Sun loungers but we never struggled to get one. Within the room the double bed was very comfortable, also a sofa and tv. The large wardrobe had sliding doors which proved particularly stiff to open. Good programmable air con and a functional bathroom with a good shower. An annoyance with the room was the balcony, it was extremely small and had an uncomfortable metal table and chairs. Nor did it have any cover as although there was the frame attached to the wall the canopy was not fitted. One night there was a storm, we found out in the morning that the room next door was flooded overnight. Our room was cleaned each day to a high standard. The beach is sandy and clean with plenty of Sun loungers and we had no problem getting one. Beach towels are provided and ours were changed daily by housekeeping. We only ate at the hotel for breakfast, we were designated the Kitron restaurant which overlooked the children’s pool. We found the staff were always busy and whilst one was slightly brusque, they were generally courteous although at times it felt like they were doing us a favour by pouring us another coffee. The cooked breakfast was usually cold, particularly the mushrooms and beans. Only 2 of the 4 slice toaster was working and the juices were all cordial. If this is representative of the rest of the hotel dining we are pleased we didn’t go half board or more. There are a number of dining options in the Valtos beach area and the water taxi to Parga takes 5 mins at a cost of €3 each. Parga can also be reached by walking over the steep hill taking about 25/ 30 mins or a taxi is €7.
